A Pile of Conventional NO

So, my studio and I have finally learned there is no good in first year cons xD We have decided to nix Kitsune Kon as it has been very disorganized and been giving everyone hell in a handbasket of slow to no replies. It hasn't been the happiest journey for us, but I think the deal is sealed now after having trouble with Nakama their first year as well. Instead now, we've shifted our focus to No Brand Con and will be looking into a well established Con, Anime Detour, come next year. So all stars a glow for Day-Glow. See you all at No Brand Con 2011

And on a completely random and uninteresting note, I finished cleaning my room 8D Whoever knew I had a floor under all this crap?

IDKBBQS

So lately I've been wanting to pick up drawing; just for my own personal pleasures of course. I don't know, just kinda wish I had some free time that wasn't consumed by cleaning or Christmas running around so I could try some styles out. Little progress on the cleaning by the way but there's a lot to be done for a top to bottom sweep of the room. I also want to improve my colouring skills on the computer so I should probably start picking up some tutorials huh?

I've also gotten my cosplay list finalized for the year. And sad to say I'm only going to be doing 2 because they're quite labour intensive. If I have time I may roll out one more. Also have a new con to be planning out to sell out so that'll make things a bit tricky but I think I'll JUST be able to pull it all off xD if I get my butt in gear that is. COME ON MOTIVATION.

On one last note, I found a new manga series I HIGHLY suggest reading for all Hetalia fans, mystery manga fans, and historical fans. AfterSchool Charisma. Check it out c:

Recap Weekends

Whoo... been a while. I want to start with an apology because I've actually wanted to do two blog updates for a while now with some photos but alas time was short and after my Chicago trip it was all out flail to get things done for Daisho the following week. But let's discuss them anyways 8D

So... Chicago. My first time there oddly enough. Got up at 4 am packed a shit load of supplies to kill my fingers with on the drive down and glad I did xD we took off at 5 and got there just 5 minutes before 9. We made a few stops but it was very interesting going down. In the past I've only driven North of Madison, never south, and I have to tell you, going south is a lot more interesting xD A lot more to see.

I started freaking like the world's greatest tourist once we finally started getting near Chicago. I flailed at O'Hare's airport and was so happy I brought my Camera along xD We passed an IKEA building and Immediately my Hetalia side started kicking in. IKEA buildings are something else xD More vibrant then a Best Buy for sure. I also freaked out over the metro trains and subways taking hundreds of photos. And then we started getting into downtown Chicago seeing the Sears Tower and all the other skyscrapers. That was my first time ever seeing a skyscraper so it was quite a trip seeing them coming over the horizon of traffic. Despite all its horrid traffic, Chicago's a really beautiful city.

I ended up geeking over Chicago more then I did the fashion seminars, even though they were eventful and informational. I kind of felt out of place with all these prissy little bitches everywhere. Some seemed hard-working and truly wanted to get into the world of fashion, a fair portion were also 'O-M-G liek designer clothes and gossip on my blackberry' who I wanted to punch (big surprise). It was nice meeting my future instructours and some of the other students. They actually knew what cybergoth was and really seemed to like me. I was surprised . A . Hopefully next year will be better and I'll have a bit more confidence.

And that leads us to Daisho.

Well things started great; leaving work 15 minutes late, I hope onto the beltline for Steven's Point only to get majourly backed up in an accident. After about a half hour to an hour of watching turtles and snails pass me I hopped off and decided to go the ORIGINAL way mapquest had planned for me, while the GPS kept yelling at me to get my ass back on the beltline. Eventually I just started bitchfighting with it while trying to figure my way out of downtown west side Madison at rush hour. Eventually I found my old routes and was on the Interstate about an hour behind.

Once arriving at the convention there was the usual flail going on. That hotel is forever a maze to me. Once arriving I saw my panel had been switched to the time I wanted and began flailing to gt everyone dressed. Oddly enough it took a lot longer then I wanted to get everyone dressed and had a small meltdown with some costumming malfunction right before panel.

I was told my panel went ok but I thought it went rather horrid. I think having the time switched didn't help since a fair amount of people were there for Pokemon. But I did manage to catch some people's interest in the music so... who knows.

Sales went ok. It was no Anime Iowa for me, but I made a good amount. Essentially I made my paycheck in a week which was pretty rad. And it didn't drastically decrease my product for the most part. So thankful to my mother and aunt helping me crank those bad boys out while I worked my ass off on 8 hour shifts at work. Gotta make a lot more Englands for he was oddly my big seller . ^ . Don't ask me how he beat America.

My Hetalia panel went oddly awesome for being so last minute. The start was certainly rocky but it got going once I got over my pre-nerves and just went with it and the audience began talking as well. Although my panel started at midnight and was only supposed to go an hour, we ended up going to 3:30 playing Hetalia Apples to Apples due to being the last panel in the room that night. So overall, Daisho was good. No super drama, and I managed to bro around with my friends for a bit, despite being at the table nearly all the time. We've also decided to do Kitsune Kon in February and I'm already working on things to get a good head start. Hopefully this time I'll be able to get a cosplay or two in for a con xD

FREEZE Sunnuva Bitch!

Well I managed to crank out a new cyberlox set today in another wrap form. God I hate those. I've also been derping about having my mind abosrbed by BT & Celldweller jamming up Suddenly along with DJ SiSeN raping my brain with his music. Fuck my love for foreign EBM right? Managed to get my hands on Eisenfunk's 8bit CD but SiSeN's been another story. Gonna have one hell of a collection here pretty soon.

Next few days are gonna be a bit tricky to get stuff done because I'm bookin' it down to Chicago for a Fashion Expo/Workshop for the day and then clocking two full shifts at Vinny's over the weekend. Thankfully mom's offered to help cut some mochi for me while I'm gone or those little guys were totally not gonna happen for Daisho. Also managed to get my Cyber panel all done so I'm uber excited about that <3 Already having the con dreams of nooooooo xD Managed to finish all the bootcovers as well. I cranked at 22 sets of those in the past few days! THAT'S NUTS!!! Also got a set of falls repaired and even played with my turtle outside on the last nice day we had.

So it seems like I'll be weaving cyberlox in the car tomorrow until my hands bleed, starting at 5 am xD Wish me luck o/ <3

To Do List:

Cyberlox
Cyberheadpieces
Mochi
CyberMasks
Cybergloves

Eisenfunk - Pong

Ok so... progress made today xD Well... I got most if not all of my cybergoth panel figured out and I actually found a wicked new band and video in the process.

This is a cyber industrial, self recorded band out of Germany called EisenFunk and I gotta say, I'm essentially in love with their CD 8bit. It's like super oldskool videogames meets industrial and it's beautiful. It gave me a lot of motive to get back on track with the cyberland and have been cranking out bootcovers nonstop. Got all the little guys pinned and ready for packaging with only six left to make <3 Gonna try and come out with some more guy's headpieces for cyberlox as well as the masks and gloves I remembered I'd promise to have for sale. WHOOPS~!

So taking those onto the list now I'm basically screwing all my cosplay plans and just rolling cyber. Sucks a bit but I'm really excited about all this thankfully. Hopefully my first time panels go smoothely and create much success. Don't know if I'll want to do a Hetalia Panel again but I'm already looking to do another CyberGoth panel at No Brand Con in '11.

So with that said I'll leave you all to view this glorious video as I roll out to bed. Pressure's on but I'm giving it my all now <3

List to do before November 19:

Finish Bootcovers
Cyberlox
Cyberheadpieces
Cybermasks
Cybergloves (shit gotta find my patterns!!!)

Cospluexes:

Nixed :x

Sunday, November 7, 2010

So I started this little blog as just a log of my happenings as my con life seems to grow. Right now I'm in the preps for Daisho and it's crunching down to the last two weeks. Busy finishing all the boot covers tonight so I can work on the mochi for the rest of the time. Unfortunately most of my cosplays are probably going to get canceled. It sucks but that's what happens when you're busy in a studio and trying to do cosplay at the same time, while working and doing college. There just isn't enough time it seems. Doesn't help I procrastinate like a mofo either xD

So the list for things to do before November 19:

Finish Boot Covers
Mochi re-stock
Cyberlox

Wy Cosplay
Swiss Swimsuit
Ramona Flowers Cosplay

My main doom is going to be the mochi land. If I'm very lucky I might get time to pop out some new crafts... but I make no promises. xD
